Southmedic's Domestic Division is one of the largest
independent distributors of operating room products in Canada with a dynamic and
efficient sales force from coast to coast. We specialize in selling surgical and
specialty operating room products that require in-service. Emphasising customer
service, we focus on providing the technical support and knowledge that is essential
to you.
Southmedic is a vertically integrated custom manufacturing
facility, which specializes in Cleanroom Injection Molding of medical components.
The design team provides state of the art 3D solid modeling capabilities. Our
approach guarantees rapid delivery and cost effective tooling. A certified Class
100,000 clean room houses modern injection molding machines ranging from 35 to 300
tons. Controlled environment assembly facilities are also available. |

Southmedic was incorporated in 1983. The following corporate
highlights outline our major events and growth over the past 21 years
1983 - 1985
Incorporated in Hamilton, Ontario to introduce the Anaeslock -
a patented vaporizer interlock system.
Established distribution to 20 countries worldwide. Designed and launched the Vapofil - a revolutionary vaporizer filling device.
Moved to Barrie, Ontario.
1986 - 1990
Launched the Aerosol T. Moved to our new 2,000 sq. ft. office - expanded staff to four employees.
1991 - 1995
Expanded to a 4,000 sq ft. facility to accommodate the manufacturing of a drug closure system for world distribution.
Founded the Canadian Specialty Distribution Division - to market specialty products
to the operating room marketplace. Purchased a 14,000 sq ft. building on Alliance Boulevard.
Southmedic staff expanded to 20. Purchased assets of Ericana Industries and expanded our manufacturing facility
and capabilities to include in-house tooling and molding.
1996 - 2000
Received ISO 9001 certification.
Built a Certified Class 100,000 Injection Molding Clean Room.
Acquired in-house 3D Solid Design capabilities to compliment our tooling facility.
Lee McDonald was honoured with the Canadian Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
Southmedic expanded exports to more than 45 countries worldwide.
Purchased assets of M-Des Industries to further expand manufacturing capabilities and expertise.
Expanded to 30,000 sq. ft. and grew to a staff of 55.
Southmedic, with an average growth rate of 60% per year for the past 5 years is accepted as a
member of Innovative Alliance, and organization recognizing Innovative Growth Firm.
Established Corporate Advisory Board.
R & D commenced for Southmedic's innovative product the OxyArm™.
2001 - 2005
OxyArm was launched worldwide. Southmedic acquired Ultrafem contract.
Building expanded to more than double its size, to 60,000 sq. ft.
Received certification from notified body to IS0 13485: 2003, CMDCAS (Health Canada's Medical Device Conformity Assessment System), MDD 93/42/EEC Annex II (European Medical Device Directive), International Distributor of the year - Kirwan 2004, NAFTA Distributor of the year - Gyrus 2004, Outstanding Sales Performance of the year – Microline Pentax 2005
